Day 7

Read: Nehemiah 2:7-8

Key Verses:
“7 Furthermore I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given to me for the governors of the region beyond the River, that they must permit me to pass through till I come to Judah, 8 and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he must give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel which pertains to the temple, for the city wall, and for the house that I will occupy.” And the king granted them to me according to the good hand of my God upon me,” Nehemiah 2:7-8 (NKJV)

Key Reflection:
vv. 7-8 Our best pleas in prayer are those taken from the Word of God on which He has caused us to hope through Jesus Christ. If God were not more mindful of His promises than we are of His precepts, we would be undone.

Don’t get it twisted, the danger of prosperity is simple: it binds us to the world. Prosperity leads us to think that we have found our place in the world. Of course, the reality is that the world has found its place in us. In other words, God’s favor (prosperity) is for us to help others and He prospers us as well.

Pray God uses you to help others going through situations, illness, broken marriages, loss of jobs, depression, homelessness, etc. So that you are the vehicle through which God prospers others and in so doing you prosper as well.

In your journal, list the specific concerns that Nehemiah mentions when he speaks to the king in vv. 7-8. What evidence do you find in Scripture that Nehemiah knows God heard his request and answered it?

How does this compare with what you have experienced in your request?
