Day 5

Read: Nehemiah 2:5-8

Key Verses:
“5 And I said to the king, ‘If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.’ 6 Then the king said to me (the queen also sitting beside him), ‘How long will your journey be? And when will you return?’ So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time,” Nehemiah 2:5-8 (NKJV)

Key Reflection:
v. 5-6 When we have sincerely sought God for our purpose—there is confirmation or validation that comes through His word, person, etc. Once we have purpose, we can be confident that it is within the will of God. “This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us,” (1 John 5:14) NKJV.

Thought:
Someone has aptly said, “Living without God’s plan for our life is like sewing with a needle without thread, or writing one’s biography with a pen empty of ink,” (Green, 2000, p.220).

Prayer:
Father, please help us to seek first Your kingdom and Your will; so that our purpose will be in alignment with You. As Jesus taught us to pray, "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 'Your kingdom come Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven,” (Matthew 9:6-13) NKJV.

Questions:
What is it about us, that we don’t automatically seek God’s purpose and will for our lives?

What needs to happen for you to seek God’s will first?
