CHILDREN'S DAY HISTORY

The 2nd Sunday in June has been long celebrated in many churches as Children's Day. This day is set aside to devote a complete day of service to the interest of boys and girls. The significance of Children's Day is that it recognizes that our children are our future and emphasizes the importance of their spiritual gifts and development.

Children's Day at Shiloh has rich history and tradition and dates back to 1954. For over 55 years, our Church School has sponsored the Children's Day Program. Supportive parents and friends have faithfully served as Children's Day Chairpersons, providing encouragement and guidance. Many Shiloh members have given of their time and talents by serving as chairpersons and coordinators for both the morning and evening programs. Both children and youth were selected for services and uplifted the name of Jesus by being worship leaders, reading the scriptures, welcoming our guests, saying the morning and offertory prayers and introducing the speaker of the hour.

Additionally, special evening programs were conducted which allowed children and youth to render praise and glorify God through word, songs and plays. Many of our children, past and present, have memories of actively participating in the Children's Day Program. We thank God for the seeds that have been planted as a result of our Children's Day Programs, and pray God's continued guidance and direction as our children, "Emulate the Love of God."

Children's Ministry Vision
It is our vision that the children of Shiloh Baptist Church will come to personally know and experience Christ's Love, Spirit and Truth and discover their spiritual potential through Christ-centered, loving and caring ministries.
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hind them for the kings of heaven belongs to such as these" Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

Children's Ministry Mission
To provide biblical teachings and instructions in a loving and caring environment where children can be drawn to Jesus Christ and learn to seek Him earnestly, serve Him faithfully, and share Him boldly with others.

Nursery Mission
To provide loving and safe care for toddlers and children through age five where our children can be nurtured in a Christian environment, through biblical teachings (stories, memory verses, Christian videos), songs, and by modeling Christ's love.

Value
We value the uniqueness of each of our children, their individual and collective abilities, along with their ability to be kind, considerate and respectful to each other. We strive to maintain a safe, secure and loving environment, where our children are encouraged to participate and serve God willingly with their whole hearts. We also encourage the support and involvement of parents, members and friends, as we strive to reach our children who are our present and future generations.
